WEBbeams to Present Wi-Fi Seminar at
NASCORE Convention

For immediate release.
August 17, 2004.
Milwaukee, WI.

Each year, coffee and tea gurus and café owners gather at the North American Specialty Coffee and Beverage Retailer’s Expo (NASCORE) to discuss how to brew quality beverages and keep customers coming back. The expo offers speakers, tours, workshops, and more than 200 exhibitors from around the world. This year, however, the biggest stride in the coffeeshop industry may have little to do with coffee beans and everything to do with a rapidly growing technology: Wi-Fi.

Wi-Fi, or wireless Internet access, has become a widely used and often expected service in many businesses, from hotels to cafés. Business people, college students, and anyone else with a laptop or other Wi-Fi-compatible device are now logging on away from the confines of their office space.

WEBbeams co-founders Chris Olson and Brian Van Lieshout will present a seminar about Wi-Fi at the 10th annual NASCORE Convention in Portland, Oregon,
on September 10–12. They will talk about how wireless Internet service is fast becoming expected by coffeehouse patrons and how coffeeshop owners can capitalize on this technology. They’ll discuss the pros and cons of offering fee-based Wi-Fi versus free
Wi-Fi, along with such topics as how to set up Wi-Fi, advertising, roaming, pricing, security, managed access, and bundled services.
