WEBbeams to Discuss Innovative Wi-Fi Applications at Wisconsin Telecommunications Association Conference

For immediate release.
September 16, 2004.
Milwaukee, WI.

As Wi-Fi, or wireless internet, has grown rapidly throughout the United States and abroad, some innovative companies have reached beyond computers and PDAs to new technologies that might work well with Wi-Fi. Brian Van Lieshout of WEBbeams and Bill Appleby of Visual Produx, both Milwaukee-based companies, will partner to explore these emerging technologies as well as the options for Wi-Fi in public locations, known as hotspots.

The presentation, “Wi-Fi Technology and Innovative Applications,” will take place as part of the Wisconsin Telecommunications Association 2004 Conference on Thursday, September 23, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm at the Milwaukee Marriott West in Waukesha, WI. Tickets and more information are available at the Association’s Web site, http://www.wta-telecom.org/events.html.

Brian and Bill will focus on how wireless Internet service (Wi-Fi) is fast becoming expected in most public places and the variety of options available, as well as the emerging needs for Wi-Fi in the private sector. They’ll include the pros and cons of a public venue fee-based service versus free service, as well as tech support issues.

Brian and Bill will also discuss new products available that can further add service and revenue to Wi-Fi networks, including wireless security cameras and wireless electronic signage. These products can save businesses substantial costs on security and information delivery and have the ability to create additional revenue streams.

WEBbeams partners with coffee shops and restaurants to offer high-speed wireless Internet connections. For more information about WEBbeams, contact Brian Van Lieshout in Milwaukee, WI, at 262.617.2958 or brianvanlieshout@webbeams.com.
